Middle-Aged White Chicks
For age is opportunity
no less
Than youth itself,
though in another dress,
And as the evening
twilight fades away
The sky is filled with
stars, invisible by day.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
As artists we have resonated together in mutual collectiveness
to create an environment in which to support, nurture and express our artistic
presence.
The Prime Suspects of this group are:
Alvina Bishop-Edwards,
Lesley Keevers, Janette Arnold-Collins and Tracy Roberts
Middle Aged White Chicks was born out of the desire for us;
as a particular group, to bring our art to a wider audience and as a platform
with which to be heard. The current circumstance of the Middle Aged White Chick
is that we are so mainstream it renders us invisible within our society.
We have reared and supported our families, but this alone does
not define us, we are so much more. We have emerged through these years with a
wealth of wisdom, compassion, knowledge and opinions.
As creators and artists, these life experiences bring a deeper more
profound meaning to our artistic dialogue.
We have ideas and narratives to discuss, explore and express through our art, and our
discourse has a validity that our current space and artistic merit exemplifies.
We will be heard.
